The pilot sites are located in Lehtojärvi, Rovaniemi, in the vicinity of Aurora eMotion and Arctic SnowHotel, and in the vicinity of Hurtigruten Svalbard, which organizes Arctic expeditions, in the Norwegian Svalbard in Longyearbyen. Intelligent local systems will be implemented at the sites, which will enable electric vehicles (electric snowmobiles, electric cars) to be used as energy storage, while studying the implementation from technical and commercial perspectives. Research and development aims to boost companies’ investment in energy-efficient renewable energy solutions, which would also reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The results obtained from the SmartCharge project will be shared and utilized, e.g. seminars, trainings, professional journals and conferences.
