The aim of the e-Sprint project is to develop energy-efficient and low-carbon solutions and practices, while developing the innovative capacity of the Lapland SMEs. The aim is to create 10 rapid technology prototypes with Lapland AMK’s RDI professionals. Technology prototypes include technological development, implementation and testing of systems, product or service design and business potential reviews. Each proto is implemented in one month and involves a student resource to pilot a new model for solving the resource problems of SMEs through co-operation between education, RDI and SMEs. Technology ideas are defined in co-operation with the companies involved in the project.

The project’s actions consist of defining and validating the innovation capacity of SMEs; contacting SMEs, doing interviews, arranging workshops and networking events; reviewing business potentials of prototype ideas; Implementing rapid prototypes, enhancing prototypes with new resources; dissemination of results and exchange of experience, and project management.

The result is the 10 technology prototypes that focus in creating energy efficiency and low carbon solutions. Prototypes will be further developed by businesses after the project. Also an operating model for solving the resource problems of companies created, as well as the way to identify Lappish SMEs with systematic innovation potentials.

e-Sprint is managed by Lapland University of Applied Sciences and it has an ERDF funding granted by the Regional Council of Lapland
